As Head of Policy Development, you’ll play a pivotal role in steering our policy strategy and ensuring we remain at the forefront of the UK retirement market. Reporting to the Director of Public Policy and Industry Affairs, you’ll identify emerging opportunities and risks, lead high-profile policy projects, and represent Just at key industry and stakeholder forums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the Group Policy Strategy to support commercial and policy objectives.

  • Build and develop strong internal networks to share insights on key policy, regulatory, and market changes.

  • Lead engagement and response to regulatory and legislative initiatives, coordinating and in some cases leading policy inputs to consultations

  • Working closely with the Director of Public Policy and Industry Affairs to strategically manage our key relationships in order to protect and grow the markets that matter most to Just

  • Provide policy intelligence to ensure we remain a leader in its chosen markets and achieves its ambition to be the UK’s most loved retirement expert among key policy audiences.

  • Monitor and assess policy activity across government, regulators, industry bodies, and media to identify and communicate risks and opportunities.

  • Identify profile-building opportunities for Just and senior leaders through events and industry forums.

  • Support senior executives with timely insights on policy and industry developments.

  • Coordinate involvement in industry bodies such as the ABI, Pensions UK, and the Equity Release Council.

Skills and Experience:

  • Direct expertise in policy development, with strong experience in strategic policymaking and influencing at a senior level

  • Proven background in public policy or related roles within firms, organisations, or agencies particularly in pensions, savings, retirement planning or financial services

  • Confident representing the business at external meetings and events, making impactful contributions to key stakeholder audiences.

  • Highly motivated strategic thinker, able to respond quickly to a changing policy environment with excellent judgement.

  • Results-driven with strong influencing skills and the confidence to represent Just in external forums.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the UK policy environment, legislative processes, and regulatory frameworks. Ideally direct experience of working in government and/or regulator.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver projects to the highest standard.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish credibility quickly with senior executives and industry stakeholders.
