About the role
We are are looking for an Accountant to support the financial reporting for the trading subsidiaries within the Just Group, specifically life and lifetime mortgage companies.
In this role, you will assist with the monthly close process for financial reporting, ensuring that financial reports are accurately prepared, timely, appropriately reconciled, and thoroughly analyzed.
You will also ensure adherence to group accounting policies and support the Financial Reporting Manager in delivering high-quality financial reports and analysis to the Head of Corporate Reporting, management, and third parties.
Responsibilities
Preparation of Financial Statements: Own the preparation of financial statements (statutory annual report and return) for life and lifetime mortgage companies.
Support IFRS 17 Reporting Processes: Manage and reconcile the finance feed to provide the Actuarial engine with accounting data for monthly IFRS 17 reporting.
Analytical Review and IFRS 17 Disclosure: Conduct analytical reviews for life and lifetime mortgage companies and prepare IFRS 17 disclosures.
Regulatory Returns: Own the preparation of regulatory returns for ABI and ONS and provide necessary data to Compliance for FCA returns.
Journal Preparation: Prepare IFRS 17-related journals and other journals as needed for financial reporting.
External Audit Assistance: Assist in external audits by preparing required schedules and data, and responding to auditor queries.
Financial Reporting Tool Implementation and Improvement Initiatives: Support the implementation of financial reporting tools and other improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience
Professional Accountancy Qualification (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
Relevant experience in life insurance essential
Experience in IFRS insurance accounting and reporting is essential
Good knowledge of financial analysis and controls
Strong problem-solving and proactive resolution skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Attention to detail
