Business & Communications Lead

Location: London- hybrid 50%

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time- 35 hours

Purpose

Reporting into Group Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO), Business Communication Lead role works closely with the CDIO, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and key partners across People and Finance to provide coordinated operational support and ensure effective delivery of strategic priorities.

Acting as a central point of organisation, the role aligns strategy with execution, supports key initiatives from planning to delivery, and enables informed decision‑making through strong governance, reporting, and communication. The role holder ensures efficient processes, clear communication, and timely implementation of leadership decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate key business management activities, including planning cycles, governance forums, and performance tracking.

  • Support the development and maintenance of the Strategy Execution Plan, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.

  • Monitor progress against strategic objectives and KPIs, providing clear insights to the CDIO and SLT.

  • Coordinate cross‑functional projects and initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and alignment to agreed scope and priorities.

  • Prepare accurate, high‑quality board papers, leadership reports, and meeting packs.

  • Create clear and engaging content for internal communications, presentations, and leadership updates, working with Brand and Communications teams as needed.

  • Provide briefings, insights, and analysis to support effective decision‑making by the CDIO and SLT.

  • Support employee engagement activities in partnership with the People team, including interpreting feedback and coordinating action plans.

  • Manage recognition activities in collaboration with the Reward team.

  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes, operational efficiency, and reporting.

  • Support the SLT in embedding modern approaches to analytics, governance, and operational control.

Examples of Key Activities

  • Track strategic priorities and KPIs, ensuring alignment with overall organisational goals.

  • Coordinate business improvement initiatives such as process optimisation, reporting enhancements, and efficiency workstreams.

  • Prepare timely and accurate management reports, board packs, and leadership briefings.

  • Draft and deliver internal communications that support colleague engagement and strategic clarity.

  • Manage newsletters, engagement survey updates, and leadership messaging.

  • Build consistent presentation materials for internal and external use, coordinating with Brand and Communications.

  • Gather information and prepare briefing materials to support leadership decision‑making.

  • Assist with planning and coordination of engagement activities, workshops, and strategic events.

  • Maintain up‑to‑date operational documentation, trackers, and supporting materials for governance routines.

  • Support the implementation of improved analytics, reporting, and governance processes across the Business area

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities.

  • Experience supporting governance, planning cycles, and performance tracking processes.

  • Ability to interpret data, draw insights, and present findings clearly to different audiences, including senior and Board‑level stakeholders.

  • Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, data analysis) and proficiency with Power BI.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging appropriately.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and digital collaboration tools such as SharePoint and Teams together with interest in learning new technology and adopting modern digital tools

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with senior stakeholders.

  • Experience preparing reports, presentations, and communications materials (internal or external).

  • Familiarity with project coordination tools and methods (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Planner or similar).

  • High attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high‑quality documentation and outputs.
