Purpose
The Cloud Operations Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining IT infrastructure and services across Just’s private data centre and hybrid cloud environments. The role requires strong expertise in Microsoft technologies, including Office 365 and Azure services, as well as macOS deployment, mobile device management, scripting, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the Level 3 escalation point for systems and services within the cloud operations team
Maintain IT infrastructure and services across private data centres and hybrid cloud platforms
Collaborate with product owners, architects, and technology teams to design and implement solutions
Monitor infrastructure health and respond promptly to alerts
Identify and support process improvements
Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rota
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and technology partners
Promote a collaborative ‘One Team’ culture and champion Agile best practices
Example of Key Activities
Support daily cloud operations alongside the wider team
Manage project tasks using agile methodologies and tools, such as Azure DevOps boards
Balance business-as-usual work with new project initiatives
Plan and execute sprint cycles, backlog grooming, and feature delivery in coordination with the team
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Microsoft 365 platform management: including Microsoft Autopilot, Intune, MECM, and ATP Defender for Office 365
Mac device deployment and management: expert-level use of Jamf for macOS lifecycle management and modern device management and deployment
Device monitoring and BYOD: familiarity with monitoring tools and strategies for diverse device ecosystems
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI): working knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365
Messaging systems: experience managing Exchange Server, Exchange Online, Mimecast, and email encryption solutions
Scripting and automation: practical skills in automating tasks and infrastructure management
Microsoft Azure platform management and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Monitoring tools: experience with SolarWinds, Dynatrace, or similar platforms
Backup and recovery: strong experience with Rubrik for data protection and disaster recovery
Certificate and PKI management
DNS management and networking fundamentals
Core Microsoft services: Active Directory, Group Policy, ADFS, Security, PKI, DHCP, and Print management
ServiceNow platform experience for IT service management
Telephony platforms: familiarity with business communication systems
Communication skills: strong interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to different audiences
Problem-solving: solid analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
Organizational skills: able to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
Qualifications: Office 365 certifications and Azure certifications would be desirable
