Location: London- hybrid 50%

Hours: Full time- 35 hours

Purpose of the role

As the Compliance Manager you will provide proactive support to the Head of Compliance, in the formulation and implementation of the appropriate strategy to manage new initiatives to help compliantly meet the business’ goals.

You will work closely with the Directors of, Heads of and Managers of Business Development as well as directly with third party firms (Appointed Representatives (AR) and Introducer Appointed Representatives (IAR), Introducers, Partners, Third Party Administrators) to ensure all relevant staff have a clear and correct understanding of relevant regulatory rules and expectations

You will assist the ongoing maintenance and development of standards of advice, ensuring that ‘best advice’ and ‘best practice’ are adopted within direct customer functions of HUB Financial Solutions. Proactively supporting these distribution functions to examine quality throughout their operations and to help ensure they operate within a strong and positive compliance culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Reviewing and maintaining quality compliance systems and controls for customer-facing distribution functions that are appropriate to the Company’s stated risk appetite. Specifically, to support identification, mitigate and monitor risk across customer-facing distribution functions:

  • To ensure that the Just Group is compliant with regulatory requirements (with focus on FCA) in relation to its business (including third parties).

  • Support the business with external partners conducting due diligence (on them and completing their requests) and maintaining quality in the advice areas upon which they entrust HUB-FS.

  • To help ensure that Just Group is compliant with FCA and other regulatory requirements in relation to its dealings with Appointed Representatives and Introducer Appointed Representatives, intermediary and partner firms.

  • Create a robust framework and apply and / or oversee processes to ensure appropriate controls are in place to meet the FCA rules and guidance, as applicable.

  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Key Relationship areas and stakeholders to ensure they maintain a strong knowledge of relevant compliance rules and procedures to mitigate the exposure for any breaches.

  • Take the lead on the development and ongoing management of customer communication regulatory sign off; regulatory compliance matters in relation to our business, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.

  • Work in conjunction with / deputise for the Heads of Compliance as required in the conduct of their duties in relation to compliance and wider regulatory matters

  • Developing, maintaining, and documenting appropriate day to day monitoring systems that facilitate the early communication of risk identification.

  • Routinely produce and analyse qualitative KPIs, reporting how effectively conduct risk is managed within the distribution functions, ensuring weaknesses and themes are identified, and remedial actions requested of the Business. In particular, to investigate and analyse root cause data.

  • Monitoring remedial action resulting from the identification of conduct risk to ensure they are completed by relevant owner.

  • Provide consultancy support and technical expertise on FCA regulatory issues and corporate developments to assist the Business in achieving its objectives and to ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice.

  • To participate in the collation of MI detailing the Company’s performance against the Consumer Principle and the four outcomes under the Consumer Duty.

What we're looking for:

  • Financial Services QCF level 3 qualification (or equivalent) is essential

  • Progression towards QCF level 4 Financial Services qualification is desirable

  •  Compliance record in financial services, ideally in the retail insurance market and experience of Consumer Duty principles.

  • Extensive experience in a relevant financial services role is essential.

  • Experience of dealing with regulatory frameworks, their mechanics and implications is essential. 

  • Experience in successfully managing relationships with customer-oriented firms.

  • Experience of the investment platform/asset management industry preferred

  • Experience of conduct risk regime.

  • Proven ability to assimilate, comprehend and present information verbally and in writing.

  • Knowledge of Financial Conduct Authority regulations and compliance framework, as it relates to retail firms. 

  • Knowledge of the complexities of the retirement market, in particular Retirement Income, Equity Release, Care Funding, Defined Benefit, Decumulation, Income Drawdown and Annuities

  • Experience of financial promotions and approval in line with relevant rules and guidance.

  • Detailed knowledge of Financial Conduct Authority regulations and compliance framework.

  • High level of customer orientation and excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Ability to implement robust processes and procedures to satisfy regulatory requirements.

  • High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office packages, in particular, Excel.
