About the role

We are looking for a Financial Controls Manager who will be responsible for the identification, assessment and documentation of key risks and controls for IT application, financial reporting, data and SII, and for the monitoring of financial controls environment to ensure it is robust, agile and efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess processes and controls in scope of Financial Controls framework, including financial reporting, data, SII and IT applications.

  • Organise and lead workshops to perform walk-through processes, record material risks and identify controls gaps.

  • Support and guide business on improving/optimising Financial Controls environment and monitor effectiveness of financial control environment

  • Establish process and control repository in the selected tool.

  • Coordinate SME review and sign-off on ad-hoc requests

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) is with significant experience in risk and controls is essential

  • External audit experience Insurance sector is preferred.

  • Strong IT and Financial Reporting control experience and oversight of control environment in Insurance sector is essential.

  • First-hand operational experience, able to work independently to design controls and processes, to define and document business processes, and to identify and rectify deficiencies and monitor remediation.

  • Good understanding of risk management and audit principles and practices with particular focus on processes, risk and control for IT application and Financial Reporting controls.

  • Pragmatic problem-solver with commercial awareness and a flexible, collaborative approach.

  • Ability to apply an analytical approach and work systematically, independently, and within set deadlines while managing multiple tasks.

  • A self-starter and independent learner who takes the initiative to challenge the status quo and is creative and comfortable with ‘blank sheet of paper’ assignments.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Visio and Excel
