Purpose of role

We are a digital retirement business reimagining how people plan and live the next stage of their lives. Our platform brings together financial planning and lifestyle aspirations to help people navigate from consideration to retirement and beyond.

We believe data is the core to this mission, enabling us to not only understand our customers but also to deliver truly personalised guidance and experiences. We’re now looking for a Head of Data and Insight to lead the strategy and collaborate to build the capabilities that make this vision real.

The Head of Data will own the consumer data strategy (with a strong focus on data science elements) from day one establishing strong BI and governance foundations while creating the conditions to use real-time data, machine learning, and AI to power hyper-personalised retirement journeys. Whilst collaborating with wider group colleagues to ensure alignment with one customer view focuses and appropriate governance.

This is a role for someone who can balance immediate impact (clear insights, performance tracking, customer segmentation) with longer-term vision (an AI powered platform that learns from every interaction to shape personalised retirement outcomes).

About Just

We help people achieve a better later life. That’s our purpose and it’s the reason we exist. We are a fast-growing company helping customers enjoy the retirement they deserve. We do this through a variety of market leading, award-winning products and services, delivered by a diverse team of over 1,400 purpose-led colleagues who genuinely put the customer at the heart of everything we do.

This is a brilliant time to join our business. We are on an exciting growth journey to become the UK’s most loved retirement expert.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and deliver an end-to-end data strategy covering BI, analytics, personalisation, and advanced AI, defining both the near-term roadmap and long-term vision for AI-driven, personalised experiences.

  • Design and implement a modern, secure data foundation including data warehousing, pipelines, governance, and compliance with GDPR, FCA, and financial data privacy standards.

  • Build, lead, and embed a high-performing data function spanning data engineering, analytics, and data science, while establishing a strong data-led culture across a matrix organisation.

  • Deliver trusted BI and insight capabilities, enabling leadership and teams to self-serve, track growth, engagement, financial performance, and customer behaviour, and act confidently on data.

  • Define and evolve the data architecture for personalisation, including customer profiles, event tracking, segmentation, and real-time behavioural insights, progressing from rules-based approaches to machine learning and AI.

  • Lead the development and deployment of predictive models for customer engagement, financial forecasting, lifestyle recommendations, and retirement readiness, embedding them seamlessly into product experiences.

  • Partner closely with Product, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Group teams to drive experimentation, optimise acquisition and retention, and use AI to improve both customer outcomes and internal decision-making.

What we’re looking for

  • Deep hands-on experience with modern data platforms and real-time data pipelines, combined with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to turn complex data into actionable insight.

  • Proven leadership in senior data roles, with 10+ years in data-focused positions and at least 3 years leading data, analytics, or data science teams in digital or consumer-facing organisations.

  • Strong background in customer data, personalisation, segmentation, recommendation systems, and understanding product-market fit and growth metrics.

  • Experience designing and delivering predictive models, machine learning, AI-led decisioning, and an understanding of generative AI in customer interactions.

  • Strong knowledge of data governance, privacy, and risk management within regulated environments, particularly relating to financial or sensitive personal data.

  • Ability to partner effectively with Product, UX, Engineering, and senior stakeholders, influencing across teams and the wider group.

  • Customer-focused, highly organised self-starter with experience operating in both large enterprises and smaller, fast-moving technology organisations.
