Purpose 
A key role in supporting the collation, analysis and submission of the reinsurance and reporting data to our reinsurance partners and internal stakeholders. This covers all the types of DB reinsurance namely, longevity flow, longevity facultative, and funded. Based on both the existing and continually increasing portfolio the volume and range of required activities will expand as the portfolio matures.     

There will also be a continuous focus on improving processes and delivering scalable solutions to support this activity, along with working both with the wider DB Reinsurance Team and wider DB Teams to develop further integrated working and processes.     

Job Role Accountabilities 

  • Ensure that monthly and quarterly data /reporting is processed to a high quality, assessed, and collated for onward distribution to our Reinsurance Partners to support delivery in line with Treaty timeframes
  • Ensure that monthly and quarterly payments are delivered and settled in line with Treaty timeframes and internal controls/ approvals   
  • Ensure that internal reporting of associated information is undertaken consistent with internal departmental requirements  
  • Ensure that agreed activity for specific treaties/schemes onboarding is completed in line with agreed internal timescales to support overall delivery timescales 
  • Ensure that all other reinsurance operational activity to support other process such as annual exercises, collateral calcs, etc. is prepared in line with agreed internal timescales    
  • Develop understanding of key elements of agreed portfolio of reinsurance treaties sharing knowledge / requirements with relevant teams in DB as necessary.
  • Production of Reinsurance Operations MI in line with internal timescales

Key activities include:

  • Produce and deliver monthly/quarterly reinsurance reporting and settlements
  • Support the completion of onboarding for facultative reinsurance arrangements and individual schemes under flow reinsurance arrangements
  • Support delivery of accurate data to key internal stakeholders
  • Support the production of MI  
  • Assist with ad-hoc data requirements and requests in relation to reinsurance data and information.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability in using Excel to manage and manipulate large data sets, using both Excel functions and VBA with a view to progressing to other coding styles.
  • Basic DB Pension administration knowledge.
  • Ability to manage workloads and prioritise a number of different tasks based on business volumes and priorities.
  • Customer service focused.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate information across different media (e.g. in person, telephone, letter, email).
  • Clear focus on quality, service and results.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast moving environment.
  • Good Microsoft office skills particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.

Desirable experience

  • Experience in using coding languages to assist with large scale data analysis - for example, VBA, Julia would be beneficial.
  • Some experience of working in the DB Pensions Industry
