About the role
The Treasury Actuarial Analyst will support the Senior Treasury Actuary by providing actuarial and other technical expertise to implement Treasury initiatives and support regular Treasury processes.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance and actuarial input to initiatives associated with the Treasury function.
Support and provide training in the monitoring of Just’s investments, in particular asset value verification and cash flow projection.
Support the development and maintenance of Just’s internal derivative valuation models.
Provide quantitative analysis of the inflation and currency matching position of each regulated insurance entity and recommends actions to ensure the hedging remains appropriate.
Provide modelling expertise, in particular derivatives stresses input into the short-term liquidity analysis performed by Treasury.
Provide modelling expertise to develop and maintain medium terms projections of liquidity risk exposure over the business plan period.
Provide routine and ad hoc analyses to assist and optimise Just’s collateral management processes.
Provide technical support to the pension scheme derisking (“DB”) team in producing asset markers for transaction processes within tight deadlines, and owns the asset markers templates reflecting quarterly pricing curve updates.
Support the development and maintenance of the Just limited price indexation (“LPI”) model and provides assistance in investigations related to the LPI model.
Support the development and maintenance of the Just yield curves tool. Provide data attestation on data warehouse outputs managed by the Treasury Team.
Take initiative in the preparation of clear and concise material and presentations internal papers, approvals and management information, where applicable.
Prepare relevant materials for the Asset Liability committee (ALCO) meetings and other Committees as required.
Contribute to the Asset Modelling Forum to align the Investment team, Treasury team and other business units on the implementation of new initiatives and strategies.
Work closely with internal stakeholders most notably in the areas of Investments, Finance, Actuarial, Risk, and in particular supports the regular Treasury processes.
Skills & Experience
Studying towards an actuarial qualification
Understanding of fixed income assets and derivatives and their dynamics with life insurer balance sheets and Solvency II requirements
Knowledge of Bloomberg and FIS Quantum is highly desirable
Excellent knowledge of Excel, and basic knowledge of Python, VBA and potentially other financial modelling software such as Matlab
Excellent problem solving skills
Good knowledge of data management and analysis
Ability to communicate complex ideas and analysis to less technical audience
Able to take initiative to proactively identify and solve issues.
Experience at a life insurance company with recent experience in Investments or Treasury area
Track-record of developing practical solutions to complex technical issues
Experience of financial markets, in particular corporate bonds/loans, and risk mitigation techniques involving financial derivatives is highly desirable.
