About the role 

The role holder is responsible for ensuring all assigned audits and advisory engagements are delivered to time and budget whilst providing valuable assurance and insight.

The role holder will provide daily support and mentoring to the Senior Auditors to ensure value added is provided for all audits. The role holder will be required to be hands on where necessary and ensure all outputs  pull in or consider more strategic considerations to add valuable insight to key stakeholders, meet the group audit methodology and are of appropriate quality ahead of their presentation to the Senior Audit Manager for their approval.

The role holder will ensure that recommendations to management are addressing the controls weaknesses identified during the audit and that related management actions are timely completed and closed.

Key Accountabilities 

  • Delivery of the Audits and Advisory work, as assigned by the Senior Audit Manager, to time and quality by ensuring that each engagement provides challenge, value and robust assurance.

  • Support the Senior Auditors on drafting key audit documents (e.g. planning documents and audit reports) and completing more complex activities (e.g. fieldwork) to deliver added value audits.

  • Daily mentoring and development of the Senior Auditors by ensuring high levels of both technical and soft skill competency, leading to a high performance and delivery of value added audits.

  • Under the direction of the Senior Audit Manager, complete pre-planning audit activities to deliver quality and timely audit engagements by supporting the Senior Auditors to identify and define the appropriate audit scope.

  • Timely closure of management actions by working closely with the Senior Auditors to effectively monitor the follow up with key stakeholders.

  • Proactively identifying areas where risk is outside of the business ‘Appetite’ levels.

  • Working with the Senior Audit Manager to manage the day to day operational activity and quality of the Internal Audit Partner.

  • Proactively supporting the businesses control framework.

About You 

The experience, skills and knowledge we are looking for: 

  • Demonstrable experience in performing, managing and delivering internal audits to quality and time (experience of Financial Services would be an advantage).

  • Demonstrable experience of auditing within Solvency II environment would be an advantage.

  • An ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including the ability to undertake workshops with Senior Management in order to educate and embed Internal Audit strategies further within the business.

  • Innovative with exceptional analytical skills.

  • A proven track record of developing more junior members of the team.

  • Experience of individually establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
